Nice!

August 27, 2007

Just under one month after we hit 500 submitted links we are now double that (over 1000) and over 3100 votes. We have some great suggestions coming in. Please keep on letting us know what you like and don't like. Most important of all... Thanks so much!

Slowly but surely

July 24, 2007

LinkJudge is coming together more and more each week. Kinks are being ironed out and plans for the future are being formed. I think ths is a good thing! Even better? We passed what I considered to be a goal. In udner two months we have reached over 500 links submitted, 1700 votes cast. This may be small to some, but I consider it a validation of sorts. What's next? I'd love to see more submissions from people. We have a core group that is driving a lot of our links. I'd like to see more of what the community also considers to be worthy of sharing. Any takers? Any other ideas for the site or things you'd like to see? Let us know! And to those who are enjoying the site by submitting links and our judges... THANK YOU!

Suggest a category

July 18, 2007

Many times I am submitting links to LinkJudge and it doesn't quite fit the categories available at the time. What to do? I have it easy. I can just go in and create a new one (the joys of being an administrator of a site). So what does everyone else do? Make everyone an administrator? Uh... No. Sorry. Instead, we have added a new link to the Categories section of the sidebar that gives you the power to suggest a new category. Will all suggestions be done? Not really. We try to control the number of categories so that we don't end up with 1,000 options. I think categories have to follow the rule of K.I.S.S. (aka Keep It Simple, Stupid!). The main goal is to have the categories available for all of us to use and find stuff. So not all suggestions can be made into a new category. Sorry. But please don't let this discourage you from submitting ideas! We are totally open to ideas and suggestions. We just want to be honest and say not all will be done. So try it out for yourself: Suggest A New Category.

The fine balance of advertising

July 5, 2007

Web advertising is funny thing. As a browser of other sites, I sometimes get annoyed by ads. As somebody who helps manage and run a website, ads help keep a site free for everyone to enjoy while also paying the hosting and bandwidth bills. We decided to make a change to how LinkJudge is setup for people who register an account... What change? No ads. We figured that people who are registering an account are likely to be the same ones who are submitting their favorite links to the site for everyone to enjoy. Why not reward these people? So no annoying ads for registered members of LinkJudge. Not contributing? Please do! This is a community site and without contributions we die. This is all a small way of saying 'Thank you!' to th community.

Movin' on up!

July 1, 2007

The beta of LinkJudge is moving along these days. A number of kinks and tweaks have been made and more are coming. Our membership and number of links has also continued to rise on up. In fact, I've discovered some really interesting and cool stuff... So as far as I am concerned, LinkJudge is fulfilling its goal of discovering new stuff, sharing favories and judging what stays and what goes. I do have to give one big shout out to our friends over at the TamaTalk forums for being such a large part of helping us test things out here at LinkJudge. We've got some cool new banners currently in testing at TamaTalk as well. Thanks TamaTalk! We owe you one.

The start of something...

June 1, 2007

Welcome to LinkJudge! Today is the first "official" day of a beta-ish opening for this site. I think there are two things to expect of LinkJudge in the future. The first (hopefully) is loads and loads of cool links submitted by visitors. The thinking is that it will start out slow and build as time goes on. The second thing to expect on on ongoing basis is change. User input is going to be very important as well as our own experiences woring the site. Please make use of the Contact Us form to share your thoughts and suggestions. Hopefully we can grow the site into something worth visiting and sharing with friends. Here goes nuthin'! LinkJudge is officially open!
